Most people planning a trip from Bristol Airport start by searching for parking — and never compare it with the alternative. It is worth doing, because the two options are not priced the same way at all.
What park-and-fly actually costs you
On-airport parking is charged per day you are away, not per journey. A week in the sun is seven days of parking; a fortnight is fourteen. The long-stay car parks sit away from the terminal and connect by shuttle bus, so you also budget the wait and the ride at both ends — with cases, in the rain, at 4 a.m. The short-stay areas are within walking distance of the single terminal but priced for hours rather than weeks, and the terminal forecourt drop-off is a paid zone too.
Then there is the part nobody prices in: you drive yourself down the A38 before your flight, and you drive yourself home again after a red-eye landing. Your car also spends the whole holiday sitting in a field in North Somerset.
What a transfer costs you
A private transfer is charged per journey — one fixed fare out, one fixed fare back, whether you are away for three days or three weeks. That is the crossover point, and it is why the maths moves against parking the longer your trip runs. For a fortnight away, two seats in a car frequently land close to two weeks of long-stay parking; for a family of four it is rarely close at all.

When parking still wins
We would rather be straight about it. If you live close to the A38, travel solo, are away for two or three nights and are happy driving home tired, self-parking is usually the cheaper answer. Park-and-fly earns its keep on short, solo trips.
For everything else — a week or more, two or more travellers, an early departure, a late arrival, or an address away from the airport corridor — the fixed-fare car is the calmer and often the cheaper choice.
